LA County Department of Public Health has been publishing data on COVID-19 cases in LA County on this site, which includes a summary page, and an interactive COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard which presents the data in charts, tables, and maps. Despite their great efforts, the site does not provide data at the city/community level by date (only data by the most recent date), so it's not possible to see how the cases have been developing locally. In this project, we are going to rectify that by developing our own web application focusing on COVID-19 case data at the city/community level.
Specifically, for each city/community in LA county, our application will store their name and population, and the number of people tested, the number of conformed cases, and the number of deaths by date. Authorized users can either enter new data into the system one city/community at a time, or import data downloaded from the county COVID-19 Surveillance Dashboard. The application then presents the data in tables and charts similar to the ones on the county website.
