In the DCT based coding, we must first extract the rgb planes from the image. Are these planes the 8x8 pixel blocks stated in JPEG compression notes? |

Also if they are the 8 x8 blocks would it not be easier to follow the steps from the hw and pad the image first before extracting the planes? |
