Fall Senior Design project presentations will be split between County of Los Angeles projects and others.

County of L.A. projects will be presented Nov 30, 9:00 - 12:00 in the Hearing room of the County Board of Supervisors, 500 West Temple Street, Room 383. This is a fairly large and formally organized auditorium. It is used for public meetings of the Board of Supervisors.

The other projects will be presented Dec 7, 1:00 - 4:00 in King Hall, Lecture Hall 1.

Regarding the County projects

Expected in the audience

We expect Hilda Solis, supervisor for this district, to attend. We also expect Dean Emily Allen to attend. Executives from county departments that are sponsoring the projects as well as executives from other departments are also expected to attend. Of course your liaisons will attend as well.

Dress Code

Dress as you would for an job interview.

Presentation time

Presentations should be planned for 15 minutes, including questions.

Presentation level and content

Presentations should focus on high-level project requirements: what problem are you trying to solve for your customer? You can assume that the audience is reasonably sophisticated and will understand some of the more subtle requirements issues.

Presentations should provide a high-level overview of your technical approach. The audience can be expected to have a high-level understanding of computer systems. But do not expect the audience to understand--or be interested in--such technical details as the particular programming languages, tools, and libraries you plan to use. A DFD with half a dozen or fewer elements should be as detailed as you get.

Those of you presenting Dec 7 who are also taking CS 4661 should know that CS 4661 is cancelled that day.
