The Computer Science Major at Cal State University, Los Angeles will teach you a broader skill set then just focusing on game design

Cal State L.A. does offer classes in game design, check out the course listing for CS 454. CS454 is the "special topics" class that changes every quarter and sometimes offers single player and multiplayer game development. There are also classes offered for Android development, and some senior design projects involve designing a game from start to finish.
