I think we were allowed to use Google on the quizzes but he tried to make them un-Googleable eventually.

This is from the course website: "You may bring and refer to up to 5 pages of hard-copy notes."

The way i understand this is that it includes anything and everything that could be fit in 5 pages.

Sill not sure if we'll be able to use the internet. The thing is that I'm sure Dr.Abbott has written the questions skillfully so we can't google them.

I'm pretty sure we can. He said "hard-copy". So print out all you can with 8pt font!

You should assume that you will not have access to the Internet. You will have access to the course wiki. Depending on technical feasibility selected outside sites may be available, but don't count on it.

As someone mentioned above, you may bring up to 5 pages of hard-copy notes.

In making up the test my goal was to make it minimally dependent on memory. The questions attempt to get to your understanding of the material, not your memory of details that can be easily looked up. So, for example, you will be able to look up the wiki page on the Master Method. You don't need to memorize it. But you should know how to use it to solve a problem.

Of course the line between memory and understanding can be blurry. You should understand, i.e., remember, the difference between BFS and DFS.

Professor, we are allowed to use any notes, up to 5 pages, printed or hand-written, correct?
