It is as important as it is, because our world is supported and generally run by the system, which was created using the knowledge from Computer Science. Namely, problem solving, programming of computers, etc..

Computers and its accessible properties, like the internet and software, help people of all sorts achieve their goals they wish to accomplish. In a way, Computer Scientists are like the harbingers of dreams. WE help make dreams come true through the endless possibilities of what we can accomplish through computers.
