A course of this sort relies much more than normal courses on the initiative of the people taking it. It works best when you ask yourself questions that explore some of the issues raised in the videos and notes and experiment with various implementations of ideas presented. When that sort of initiative exists, it's easy to give those who show it an A--whether or not what you find and what you implement succeeds. (It's the initiative and effort much more than the results that matter.)

It's disappointing that so far, that has not happened. Yet I'm still required to give you grades at the end of the course. So let's do this for a midterm. Submit your depth-bounded alpha-beta minimax Player by our meeting next Wednesday. Also submit your answer to the question about why and under what circumstances true is used in GDL rules. I'll give grades (1 - 5) on each. The two combined will serve as a midterm grade.
