Yes you will have to end up doing that, I spoke to my advisor about possibly double majoring, she said that I would  first need approval from my department to double major and then go to the other department and tell them I want to double major and then they go from there, after you have been approved you will need to meet with both advisor's so you can be on track to graduate. It will take a little longer to graduate. Hope this helps.
