Winter 2014 Priority Registration for CS Majors - Friday,...

ttrejo Posts: 326	Posted 10:44 Oct 15, 2013 \| WINTER 2014 PRIORITY REGISTRATION IMPORTANT: TIME SENSITIVE INFORMATION PLEASE READ THROUGH THE ENTIRE LETTER CAREFULLY Dear ECST Juniors and Seniors: This letter is for ECST juniors and seniors from all majors (CE, CS, EE, ME, TECH). The purpose of this letter is to inform you about important time sensitive information that concerns ECST students for fall and winter quarter. Please read this carefully and if you have any questions, contact the ECST Advising Center at 323-343-4574 and ask to speak to a staff advisor. Winter 2014 Priority Registration - October 28 from 6:00am – 11:59pm thru GET; available for all eligible ECST students (see eligibility below) upon request only. Juniors and seniors – make sure to meet with a faculty advisor in your department to discuss your Winter 2014 schedule preferably before the priority registration date. CS MAJORS: IF YOU ARE UNCLEAR OF YOUR FUTURE COURSES AND HAVE NOT HAD PRIOR ADVISEMENT, MEET WITH A CS ADVISOR IN THE DEPARTMENT. If you are not receiving financial aid you must pay your fees for Winter 2014 beginning October 21 – October 24, 2013 in order to take advantage of priority registration. Eligibility Complete MESA Application - The University grants priority registration for ECST student through the MESA Engineering Program. You may complete an application through MESA online at www.calstatela.edu/academic/ecst and click on the “MEP Application” button if you have not done so for academic year 2013-2014 no later than Friday, October 18^th. Applications submitted after the 18^th will NOT be considered. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made. MESA requires the application to be completed each academic year. Fall 2013 Professional Development Workshop Series - You must attend at least one of the professional development workshops in preparation for the upcoming ECST Technical Career Fair Annex (October 30^th, 2013 from 10:00 am – 2pm in the Student Union – Los Angeles Room. The professional development workshops will be offered from October 7 – 29, Monday – Thursday from 3:15 – 4:15 in KH LH2. Some of you have already signed up for these workshops at the Welcome Back BBQ held earlier this week. However, you may still attend the workshop if you did not sign up. Make sure that when you show up the workshop that you include your name in the sign-in sheet to verify attendance. Attend the ECST Technical Career Fair Annex – All juniors and seniors requesting priority registration are REQUIRED to attend the ECST Technical Career Fair Annex (October 30^th, 2013 from 10:00 am – 2pm in the Student Union – Los Angeles Room). The purpose of this event is to connect well qualified students with top companies who are hiring or plan to hire in the near future. Most companies are interested in hiring juniors and seniors and they are primarily looking for students with a G.P.A of 3.0 and above. Go to Eagle iJobs at http://www.calstatela.edu/univ/cdc/Eagleijobs.php to register for the Technical Career Fair Annex and upload your resume. Register on Eagle iJobs by Friday, October 18, 2013 if you are requesting priority registration. Make sure to ask the Professional Development Workshop facilitators to look at your resume before uploading on Eagle ijobs. Wear professional development attire to this event and be prepared for a possible on-the-spot interview. In order to maximize your success at the Career Fair, make sure to take advantage ofall the workshops. Also we understand that the ECST Technical Career Fair Annex will take place on a school day (Wednesday) and that you may have classes on this day. However, I urge you to do your best to work it in your schedule. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
