The NSF IMPACT LA GK-12 Program is entering it's sixth year at CSULA and once again we are looking for highly motivated graduate students (or graduating undergrads). Graduate students are funded ($30,000 per year + tuition) to conduct master's thesis research with their research advisor and to bring their research into middle school and high school classrooms.

The program goals are to advance STEM research, enhance STEM GK-12 curriculum, inform and inspire students about careers in science and engineering, and improve the graduate fellows ability to communicate their research to a broad audience. The IMPACT LA NSF GK-12 program funds graduate students (fellows) to conduct research and partners fellows with middle and high school science and math teachers within the East Los Angeles area. The Cal State L.A. graduate fellows serve as visiting scientists or engineers who work closely with their partner teachers to engage middle and high school students in science and engineering activities related to the fellows' research.

Fellow Selection Criteria:

* A graduate students on or before Fall 2013
* Doing master's thesis research in science (biology, chemistry, physics, and geology), engineering, or math.  Applicants must have a letter of support from their research advisor.
* US citizen or permanent resident
This Friday (02/22/13) is the application deadline.

See the attached flyer for more information.

Questions about the program can be directed to Prof. Warter-Perez (nwarter@calstatela.edu) or our program manager, Ricardo Sanchez (impactla@calstatela.edu).
