Okay, so the problem is:
a. Basic pay rate = $12/hr b. Overtime (in excess of 40 hours) pay rate = $18/hr c. Tax rate: 16% of the first $300 22% of the next $150 30% of the rest
Are we supposed to deduct 16% of every $300 they have? If $150 is still subtractable, deduct 22% from each? And anything below $150 gets deducted 30%? Then add the total? Please tell me if I'm not understanding this assignment. Thanks. Last edited by jpascua at

No. only deduct 16% of the FIRST $300. |

I have another question in regards to the same homework. Would you like us to display the taxes in dollars deducted or in % deducted? |

Also, if the gross pay is less than $150, do they still get taxed 30%? |
