Dr. Sun, In general, would one entity set be split into two (or more) entity sets in an ER diagram strictly to show differences in cardinality in a relationship? For example, should lessons be split explicitly to show the differences in how many instructors teach a private vs. a group class? |

I don't quite understand the first question. As for the second one, I can't give you a yes/no answer since this is an assignment and all, but I'd say that whenever you face two options like this (i.e. use one entity set or two), you need weigh the pros and cons, and pick the better one. In design often times it's not right vs. wrong, just better vs. worse. |
