Position:Java Developer


       Department: MIS

       Position Summary:

This position involves programming desktop, server, and web components to aid in the management of production tracking and efficiency.The Java Developer will need to be a self motivated, independent worker, capable learning on their own.This position is open to entry level candidates, although a strong foundation in programming is required.


       Responsibilities:

·Efficient design of server-side logic.

·Store and retrieve data from SQL databases.

·Proper Documentation of code

·Monitor application servers

·Promptly address bugs and other issues

·Meet with users to assess needs

·Design and implement GUI applications using Java Swing.


       Required Skills:

·Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming

·Knowledge of the Java language

·Must be highly motivated, personable, and have troubleshooting skills

·Must have ability to quickly learn/understand new work flows and ideas

·Must be able to work primarily alone,but also provide vital opinions during group discussions

·A desire to learn and sincere interest in programming

·Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

·Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent


       Desired Skills:

·Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.

·Scripting experience (Perl, Python, sh/csh).

·Familiarity with networked/distributed computing concepts.

·Database experience (Informix or MySQL preferred).

·Interest in computer animation and visual effects.
