The following announcement is posted on behave of Jason Kelsey, President of ACM Student Chapter: Are you interested in mobile application development on a software platform like Android? Would you like to get involved in a extra-circular software development project to broaden your software development skills, gain experience and notoriety? The Los Angeles County Metro is holding a software development competition called the "Metro Development Challenege," and we are looking for people who are interested in forming teams and competing. Dr. Sun will serve as the faculty advisor. Metro released route, schedule, bike, bus arrival and trip planning data to the public in an effort to enable greater public use of Los Angeles County transit planning information and spur transit ridership countywide. Since this time, a number of tools and applications have been created by developers and made available to the public. Metro wishes to continue this momentum by challenging developers to create even more useful tools with this data. There is more information available at the following site: http://developer.metro.net/developer-challenge/ The competition officially begins April 1st, and ends on May 20th, but we would like to start as soon as possible. We know everybody is currently busy with finals week next week, so we have scheduled an meeting immediately following finals week on Saturday, March 19th. If you are interested in getting involved in this opportunity, please e-mail me (jkelsey@calstatela.edu), Keenan (phoenyxfyre13@gmail.com) or attend our meeting on March 19th. Last edited by cysun at
