I have the doubt about the wait-die

While implementing the wait - die,  the younger thread die would be killed immediately, if the lock it wants acquire was held by older thread,

OR

Should the younger thread has to wait for some AMOUNT of time and still it will not be able to acquire a lock, then it should die immediately or we should introduce some delay?
