A minor can be added depending on your interests. Math/Information Technology/CISCO certificate could be useful. You can decide on them while attaining junior status. |

So we cannot add a minor until we're a junior? |

It only implies that you do not have to declare a minor ahead of time. However if you have decided on a minor, you should get advising from the program advisor and plan out completing the requirements. |

So we can start taking the required classes for the minor if we've declared it ahead of time? |

Yes. You can start taking the required courses for the minor along with the courses for the major |

Well I'm a full-time student with 17 units and I'm considering to minor in animation/graphic design. If I were to declare a minor now for next quarter and take the required classes, wouldn't I be beyond 18 units? That's if I'm planning to take 17 units again next quarter (for my major). |

Declaring a minor does not mean that you have to take classes for the minor every quarter. Spread your load and you have to finish the minor before completing the major. |
