The following message comes from the University Career Development Center:

WHAT:  FALL CAREER/JOB FAIR

WHEN:  Thursday October 21, from 10 am to 2 pm

WHERE:  Golden Eagle Ballroom, 3rd floor

Have you ever tried to talk to an employer about getting a job?  It can be extremely difficult!  The Fall Career Fair is an exceptional opportunity to meet and network with employers as they are here to meet you!

You may want to ask:  What do they look for when hiring?  What classes should you take?  Is an internship important?  Are there opportunities for promotion?

The Career Fair is your chance to let recruiters know who you are so that you can land a professional job.  Bring a resume and start making connections.

HOW TO PREPARE

It is extremely important that you prepare for this event, as employers often tell us that they are disappointed when students are ill-prepared.  Here are some suggestions:

  • Dress professionally (check out the resources on our website that can help with this!  Click on “Quick Links” > “Job Search Tools”)
  • Bring at least ten copies of your resume, but first, have it critiqued by a Career Center professional.  An easy way to do this is to come to our Resume Rehab on Wednesday October 13 from 1 – 4 pm in the Career Center.  You can drop in any time during those three hours.  Bring a draft of your resume, and we will help make it shine!
  • Review the list of registered employers on Eagle iJobs and visit their websites to learn more about what their organizations offer.
  • Prepare a list of questions to ask employers
  • Prepare a brief (15 seconds or less) description of yourself

This is the first time we have had our career fair event inside – so don’t miss it.  Put October 21 on your calendar now:  we will see you at the fair!
